How is Psychotherapy Different to Counselling?
There are a lot of similarities between the two but generally counselling is more
often shorter term and might deal with a specific issue -
The process of psychotherapy (and I believe it is a process), is in bringing these often hidden or subconscious ideas to the conscious awareness. Everything is subjective and though we might see certain things as facts we become aware that our ideas have been shaped the way we see the world and this way of seeing is malleable and changeable. This awareness allows a certain amount of flexibility in our perceptions and feelings and feeds into the way we relate to the world and to others.
